"This a cross-party, completely united campaign to retain cancer services on the site.

"People who are very sick should not be travelling far away for their treatment and Mount Vernon is the ideal solution."

Gareth Thomas
Gareth Thomas MP

"This is a cross-party campaign to support cancer services at Mount Vernon Hospital.

I strongly support the campaign to end the uncertainty that has surrounded Mount Vernon (since it lost its Accident and Emergency Department) and protect the essential cancer services it provides."

Launch of the paper petition

On Friday 16th March, Community Voice, together with Nick Hurd MP (Ruislip-Northwood), John Randall MP (Uxbridge) and Gareth Thomas MP (Harrow West) launched a paper petition in a cross-party effort to save Cancer Services at Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood. John McDonnell MP (Hayes and Harlington) fully supports the campaign, but was unable to attend the launch.

Community Voice, the local health pressure group, will be collecting signatures over the next two and a half months. Forms can be obtained on request from the organisation by calling 01895 636095 or 01895 634015.

The collapse of the project to build a new hospital at Hatfield means that we have an historic opportunity to save cancer services at Mount Vernon.

Success should safeguard the long term future of a hospital which enjoys enormous support in the community.

Failure will beg the question “What are the plans for Mount Vernon?”

We cannot let the opportunity pass.

This campaign has one simple objective:
To send the clearest possible signal to the decision makers that we want to keep cancer services at Mount Vernon.

The campaign is strictly non partisan and enjoys cross party support. It is backed by patient groups, not least the Community Voice organisation.

You can play your part by signing the online petition and encouraging your friends and neighbours to do the same. Every signature increases the volume of our message.
